Today, we would like you to meet Adyn! This incredible young man is eleven years old. Adyn was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumor in December 2019.
Adyn’s journey started this past October when he began experiencing flu-like symptoms. In addition, his vision began closing in + he began to pass out. Initially his pediatrician was not concerned. When his vision episodes became more frequent, Adyn’s mom decided it was time to have some blood work done. However, the tests came back normal. Eventually, Adyn ended up having an MRI which revealed, “a spot they didn’t think was normal.” Doctor’s urged Adyn’s mother to take him to the Children’s Hospital in Omaha to have more invasive tests run. Adyn was then sent home to wait for the test results. A week later, Adyn could barely stay awake. Knowing something was wrong with her baby, Adyn’s mom drove him back to the Children’s Hospital in Omaha. “This time, the doctor’s decided to do a biopsy,” she said.
This family’s world was forever changed on December 4, 2019. The results of the biopsy revealed that Adyn had a stage three brain tumor, known as Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Adyn is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment and continues to go for MRI’s every three months. We were informed, “Adyn loves soccer, but due to a shunt being placed he is no longer able to play.” Adyn has a younger sister, Adyson who has been a great source of encouragement and is his biggest fan!
