Courageous Caysen

Share

Today, we are proud to welcome Caysen to the CKSC team! This special little boy is four years old. Caysen was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia during the summer of 2018.

Caysen’s cancer was detected as a result of leg pain he was experiencing. His leg pain was so excruciating that it would wake him up in the middle of the night. Initially, the pain was thought to be growth spurts, however, after suffering from this pain several different times Caysen’s parents made the decision to take him to the doctor for a checkup. After learning of Caysen’s symptoms, the doctor decided it would be best to have blood work performed. The results of the blood test officially confirmed Caysen had cancer. His family’s world was immediately turned upside down.

After receiving his diagnosis, Caysen spent 14 days inpatient during his frontline treatment, which consisted of daily chemotherapy, steroids, blood transfusions, antibiotics, a series of six injections, finger pokes, IV’s, a surgically installed port and several lumbar puncture surgeries. We are delighted to report that Caysen is nearing the end of his 2.5 year battle!

Caysen’s mom shared with us, “Caysen is the best big brother! He just started playing soccer and scored his first goal! He loves going to school, playing outside and Mickey Mouse. He is a big fan of holidays and looks forward to celebrating Christmas. He is such a fun kid and loves to make people smile!”
