Join us in welcoming Rylie to the CKSC team! This cute little girl is three years old. Rylie is battling Stage 4 Metastatic Neuroblastoma.

Rylie’s journey began in July 2021 when she started having difficulties walking. She was taken to the ER and sent home. The next day, Rylie was taken to a second ER where tests were run and where she was eventually admitted. The results of her MRI were alarming, which resulted in Rylie being rushed to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. It was there doctors detected she had a tumor in her adrenal gland measuring 5 cm x 5 cm x 8 cm.

Within a week of her diagnosis, Rylie had a port placed and began receiving chemotherapy. She is currently in the midst of an 18-month aggressive treatment plan, which will include numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, two stem cell transplants, and immunotherapy. Rylie will undergo the majority of her treatment while being away from her home.

At points throughout her journey Rylie has lost her ability to stand, to walk, to eat, to drink, to swallow, to sit up, and at one point even her ability to talk. However, throughout all of this Rylie continues to display resilience, strength, and determination. She was described by her mom as, “an inspiration!” Rylie is expected to finish treatment in December 2022.
