Katie's Fight

Share

Say hi to, Katie! This strong girl is 13 years old. Katie was diagnosed with Metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma in August 2017.

She had emergency surgery to remove a tumor in her spine that caused her to lose feeling in her legs. In total, Katie went through 14 rounds of chemo, 68 rounds of radiation, and then finally rang the bell! She was on a trial drug that caused Radiation Pneumonitis.

After treatment, she learned how to walk again but due to the Pneumonitis, she was on oxygen support day and night for a year and a half. Never once did she complain. Katie almost made it 2 years NED, but in February 2020 she relapsed to her skull. This led to surgery, 42 rounds of radiation, and 17 rounds of chemo. Since then, her scans have been good and Katie is fighting hard to stay healthy!

Katie has loved sports since she was young and is a natural. Soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and skiing are her favorites. She is hoping one day to get back on the lacrosse field. Along with playing, she really enjoys watching sports. The Clemson Tigers, Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers, and Charlotte Hornets are some of her favorite teams. Katie also really loves her cats, and they have been by her side throughout this entire journey.

Katie, you are so strong and such a fighter! We encourage you to never give up! We pray that God continues to give you strength, courage, and overall health. Join us in giving a big welcome to Katie and her family!
