Say hi to Stanley! This adorable teammate is four years old. Stanley is battling Wilm's Tumor. Stanley was diagnosed on January 9, 2020 with a stage four Wilm’s Tumor, a type of kidney cancer.
At the time of diagnosis, the tumor was the size of a house brick. It had completely taken over his kidney and had grown uncontrollably in his abdomen. Stanley immediately began a 6-week course of high-dose chemotherapy in hopes of shrinking the tumor so that surgery could be possible. At the end of the six weeks, Stanley had an extensive surgery to remove the tumor, which was successful! Post-surgery, Stanley began a new longer cycle of chemotherapy. One month to the day after beginning the second cycle of chemo, Stanley underwent a second extensive surgery on both lungs to remove the secondary cancer. Once Stanley was recovered from surgery, he began radiotherapy treatment.
Stanley has now completed his chemotherapy treatment. We are happy to report that he was able to ring the bell this past July! However, he will continue to remain high risk for the next year.
